Thinking of making a Hunt Leader Fighter, named Packrat. Thoughts?

On a related note, we definitely need a Master Trapper, not sure if someone has that covered, but would be useful.

@SchrodingersNinja : May I ask who authored the background doc? As I wonder if they've done any others for other races, and if not, I could probably make a couple for my campaign. And are we allowed Unearthed Arcana? Was looking at using the Brute Fighter from January just gone, as it looks interesting.

This http://chicken-dinner.com/5e/5e-point-buy site has the kobold stats and works as a calculator, also i'm assuming we were doing 17 point buy.

Just went to chicken-dinner, says the stat calc is 404'd, go up a directory to the 5e part, 403. Says that the site is under construction at its root, so its gonna be hard to use, if it don't work, no?

EDIT: The PHB says that Point Buy is 27 points, start with an 8 in each stat. Page 13 of the PHB, bottom left quarter of the page.

EDIT 2: Chicken-Dinner just came back up.  :o

And how are we doing HP for our intrepid defenders? Average after first, or max die? As I'm just writing up Packrat. The site I currently use for 5e characters, DiceCloud.com, allows to autocalc stats, and saves characters to Google Drive. I understand that not everyone wants to use Google, but I can share the character sheet quite easily.

EDIT: And starting wealth, is it max for class, average on the die or something else?

You can use average die, or roll if you want. I'd recommend average, it sucks to roll poorly every level.

For wealth, you can roll 5d4 gp. Though, we're doing things a little differently. You will have trouble spending gold, due to being monsters who aren't welcomed in civilized towns. Merchants willing to deal with you will be somewhat rare.

Much of the gold and jewels you aquire from dead adventurers or raids on surrounding towns will go to the clan hoard. You are saving up to attract a dragon to serve, which your pitiful clan currently lacks.

So, do we choose class gear, as what we have scraped together, or is the 5d4 gp what we have total?

You can have class gear. Keep in mind that small creatures can't wield some weapons.

Specifically weapons with tee Heavy tag are wielded at disadvantage by small creatures.

@rjbprime on the topic of your character idea it doesn't sound bad I'm wondering through, wouldn't a battle master fighter make more sense as a pack leader then a brute fighter?

@Acetwinelf: true, it might, but I was tying his class into his traits. Not everything has to be optimal, sometimes sub-optimal can be fun, depending how its played.

Personality Traits: I live for the chase.

Flaws: I don't know when to stop. I often end up hurting myself and others.

Hence, Brute.

Brutes don't have to wield heavy weapons or anything, so it should be fine. Seems very fitting!
