[Dr. Who: AiTaS] Class is in Session [1/5 | 3]

Game System (and edition if applicable): Doctor Who: Adventures in Time and Space
Game Style: Adventure/Mystery/Horror (occasionally)/Historical/Science-Fiction
Players:

-
Player Skill Expectations: This is my first time not only running a DW:AiTaS campaign, but even playing it, so if you're new to the system too and just like Doctor Who, I'm fine with that.  Also fine with taking on people who have played before and would be willing to help new people learn.  If anyone is interested, but doesn't have access to the books please PM me and we'll work something out.
Starting Character Information:  Standard character creation points: 24 Character Points, 18 Skill Points, and 12 Story Points as a baseline with Character Points and Story Points fluctuating based on traits and abilities chosen by the player.  Non-Time Lord characters will be ordinary humans, to begin with.

Posting Expectations (Daily, weekly, etc): Every other day is fine, but if we end up posting faster I won't be too bothered.
Restrictions: No evil characters.

Notes: As its my first time running a Doctor Who game, we'll be playing something akin to the standard Doctor Who format: 1 Time Lord/Lady and his/her companions.  The person who plays the Time Lord/Lady will be randomly decided by dice roll before we start the game. The Time Lord/Lady will not be the Doctor, though we may run into him during our adventures across time and space, but will be someone different. As such, don't create your characters just yet!

What I want from each player are two character concepts: Their Time Lord/Lady and their companion. If you have no desire to play the Time Lord/Lady let me know in your response, and just post your companion concept.  Some guidance in creating your concepts are below.

Time Lord/Lady:  A mysterious figure known only as the Professor.  They are in their first body still, having never experienced a Regeneration as of yet, and are only within their first 100 - 200 years of life.  They managed to escape destruction during the Last Great Time War and were also able to escape being Time Locked with the rest of the Time Lords on Gallifrey at the end of the Time War, with the help of the Doctor.  To them, the Time War is a recent memory, the end of the War having only occurred in the last 5 years of their life.  They have spent this time on Earth, posing as Professor at a 21st Century University in America while they repaired their TARDIS.  Recently, however, they have begun to get the itch to travel, to see new things, and soon will be embarking on their journey.

What I need from you:  Give me a bit about the The Professor's personality.  Are they brave?  Cowardly?  How do they view humans?  What about the Doctor?  Are they a Time Lord or Time Lady?  Would they kill a foe if necessary?

A little history too: What did they do on Gallifrey during the Last Great Time War?  While on Earth, what have they been a Professor of?

The Companion:  While the Professor has the skeleton of a backstory, the Companions are a little more open.  The companion characters will be at least 18, but no older than their mid to late 50s.  They are normal humans of 2017 (normal as in: they are not aliens, they aren't immortal like Jack Harkness, nor can they regenerate like River Song.)

What I need from you: How old are they? How do they identify?  What about their personality?  Their history? The Professor has been on Earth for five years at this point, so there are plenty of reasons for the Companions to know them, but how exactly do they know the Professor?  Are they a current student of the Professor? A former student?  Maybe they're a professor of another subject at the University?

After you post here, I'll assign you a number for when I roll for the Time Lord/Lady position, and when we reach the minimum number of players, I'll roll the die to assign that position. I'm looking forward to this game!

EDIT: I should also note that even if you don't get chosen to play the Time Lord/Lady because the dice are off for you, I plan on trading the Time Lord/Lady to the other players when they regenerate using a dice roll for that too (just excluding those who have already played until everyone gets a turn).

This sounds super interesting! I didn't even realize there was a Dr. Who rpg. I'd be interested, and have some knowledge of the universe that it takes place in. Big fan of the show.

@DireKitten Welcome aboard then!

It's a fairly simple system based around an easy rule: attribute + skill + 2d6s = result vs. a difficulty level.

Its not a very popular game, despite being able to replicate the action of Doctor Who pretty well.  I've wanted to play a game forever, and Irate Pirate seems like a great place to do it.

I'll send you a PM with more information.

I should also note: You don't need to be familiar with Doctor Who to play the game I have planned.  I'll try to explain/inform any of the important bits of the Doctor Who Universe when they come up as we play.  If you're interested in a Sci-fi Game where not only are you traveling time, and are able to visit past events, but are also traveling through space and the future, all while solving mysteries and saving people, then this is the game for you!
