Versatile Expertise is a feat. To add it as a DM awarded bonus feat, go into the feat tab, look at the bottom panel that shows you which ones you have selected, there should be a very small house icon.

That will give you a free feat selection. Make sure you have selected the blank feat in that panel. Then, just above that house icon, in the search bar, search for Versatile Expertise, and add it.

Then, go back to your Class tab, and it should show you have the selection to make. For wizard, I'd choose wizard implements, and maybe quarterstaff, depending if you have to choose each implement type individually.

For rituals, instead of clicking the buy button, there should be an add button. Click that one.

Any other questions, feel free to ask. If you know anyone else who'd play, send them an invite. I don't mind, just no evil nor chaotic evil characters. I've seen (and played in) too many games with evil characters, and they didn't end well for the group.

Other then that, send me both the PDF and the *.dnd4e file to here. If you have an image, send that across as well.

I've already done all that and made a character, actually! I just don't know several things: First, what "Versatile Expertise" is and how I add it, and second, what I should do about Ritual Spells (I'm a Wizard). I believe I get 3 Rituals free due to wizardness, but that would leave me with the majority of my 200 gold unspent which doesn't feel right.

@Yurisei: Do you have a Windows PC (not a Surface tab) to run the Offline Character Builder? It can be installed on a Windows 10 PC, as long as you don't install it in either "Program Files" folders. As that is the easiest way to build a character, and the version linked in the campaign guide has the instructions on how to install it.

Anything available in the character builder after you have read the install guide and added the CBloader files, is fair game.

Other than that, the only specific requirements is reading of the campaign guide.

Time reversed itself and my message got deleted so I'll restate it:

I know nothing about 4e, but this sounds interesting and I would like to join!

Game System Resources / Re: D&D Resources

Quick heads-up...if you're not following https://www.humblebundle.com/ you really should be. Right now they've got an amazing resource pack up for grabs - if you're not familiar with the site, it's tier-based, and you can usually pay as little as a buck for a bundle, and I think the highest tiers are $15, although you can donate more.

The current DnD related bundle (https://www.humblebundle.com/books/5e-dungeons-hordes-horrors?hmb_source=humble_home&hmb_medium=product_tile&hmb_campaign=mosaic_section_1_layout_index_1_layout_type_threes_tile_index_3) boasts 40 titles at the $15 tier, including the jaw-dropping 890 page campaign book 'The Blight' - which includes new races, sub-races, and creatures galore.

The current bundle is mostly 5E compatible, with most/all of the content coming from Kobold Press and Frog God Games. Some of it looks like it is system agnostic, and there is a 300+ page 'Tome of Adventure Design' in the current pack, which looks like a great resource for creating and planning your own campaign.

If you've got a few extra bucks, there's probably something in here for you! Check it out!

Announcements / Irate Twitter Campaign
« Last post by nathanw13 on June 20, 2018, 06:17:49 PM »
Hey guys and girls!

You may or may not be aware, but we have a Twitter account that we have used in the past to promote Irate Pirate to the masses. We're trying to pick that back up, and as a fun way of doing that we're running a mini twitter-campaign over the next few days, making use of twitter polls as decision making tools. Depending on how many participate, it may last longer! We'd love for you to join in the fun, and also to get some retweets out there! Check us out at https://twitter.com/IratePirateRPG to join in!

You will now see a chat bar at the bottom of the page.  There is a community chat room called "Main Deck" that all logged in users can use, as well as sending messages to individual users.

Have fun, we look forward to chatting with you!  =D

Announcements / Testing another Chat Function

Hey guys,

We're testing out another chat feature for the forum.  The last one we tried ate up too much of our bandwidth so we killed it, but we kind of miss the feature.

So, we're testing out another one.  It's just a 10-day trial, so we'll see how it fares and decide how we want to proceed after the trial is up.

Thanks for hanging in there with us!

Announcements / Irate Pirate Promotion
« Last post by Otter on June 20, 2018, 10:43:35 AM »
Hey all,

For those of you who were involved with helping to promote our forum on Reddit, you probably noticed we basically stopped.  We were getting a little bit of pushback on the method we were using to promote it, and for quite a while there, the admin team just got overwhelmed with real life duties.

We've finally gotten back to this topic, and we will be picking promotion of the Irate Pirate back up.  Furthermore, we will be putting much more focus on promoting our open games.  We've seen some of these games sit with the minimum players for months, and we think we can do better.  Our forum has stayed pretty steadily small for quite a while now, so it's partly due to player saturation.  All of the active members on our forum are in about as many games as they have time for.

If you would like to help us out by upvoting Reddit posts about our forum, you can find information on what's involved and how to join the membergroup in this post.

We hope to see our open games get filled up as our board continues to grow!

Just as a heads up, @rjbprime , I've had decent luck posting on various forums on Reddit to promote the Irate Pirate.  I'm sure you could promote your specific game even more easily.  You might find more interested players that way.   ;D

I think part of the problem is that the active members of the Irate Pirate are at (or near to) their game saturation level and can't really join any further games.

You're also welcome to post about your game on our Facebook page.
